Sobek, or Sebek - Egyptian God of crocodiles, the Nile and waters.
Sobek, the ancient Egyptian god of crocodiles, is often portrayed as a crocodile, a mummified crocodile, or a man with a crocodile's head. As the god of the Nile River, Sobek brought fertility to the land of Egypt.
Initially, Egyptians likely worshipped Sobek as a fearsome deity with some dark qualities. However, his immense strength and protective nature were highly valued when defending the Pharaoh and the Egyptian people. Mummified crocodiles and crocodile eggs were frequently placed with the deceased to secure Sobek's protection in the afterlife
