Flavour Profile

It smells and tastes like coffee, with a chocolately-caramel flavour as well. Some people have said it's like a Mocha, some find it has a nutty, chocolate-caramel flavour.

Benefits

Our Herbal Coffee is plant-based, each ingredient holds some amazing qualities that have clinical evidence to support their health benefits. 

Dandelion Root can aid in digestion, help cleanse the kidneys and purify blood. It may improve liver function, is used to treat high blood pressure and gallbladder symptoms. It is rich in antioxidants and can help boost the immune system.

Chicory Root has a substantial amount of clinical evidence to show it has anti-diabetic, immunomodulatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, anthelmintic and prebiotic properties. Chicory has also been shown to promote digestion, regulate the appetite and may reduce the risk of gastrointestinal diseases.

Maca root is often used to improve libido, reduce menopausal symptoms and increase energy levels. It is also rich in amino acids, vitamins and minerals.

Cacao is rich in antioxidant compounds, it may support metabolism, balance cholesterol levels, support heart and cardiovascular system, improve immune system, enhance mood and cognition. Cacao is also rich in magnesium and iron.

Preparation

Our herbal coffee can be brewed and consumed just as you would normal commercial coffee, with or without milk, cream and/or sugar. It's better for you and as well as helping kick-start your day it is full of antioxidants, minerals and protein.

Just remember to use a tea strainer - unless of course you like to eat the roots as well.

To prepare your Herbal Coffee:

1. Add one Tablespoon per cup into a tea strainer, tea bag or french press.
   (start with 1-2 tsp. to work out desired strength of flavour)
2. Pour freshly boiled water over the root blend.
3. Allow to steep for 5-10 minutes for optimal flavour
   (taste every 30 seconds after the first 5 minutes to avoid bitterness)
4. Strain, add preferred sweetener, milk or cream and Enjoy!

TIP: If you prefer the bitterness of standard coffee, allow your Herbal Coffee to infuse a little longer to enhance the bitterness. Likewise, if you prefer it sweeter, infuse for slightly less time than suggested.

Allergens/Contraindications

Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding (unless cleared by your doctor), or if taking blood thinners, diuretics or diabetes medications - always check with your physician before taking herbal teas, supplements or natural remedies.

May theoretically cause allergic reaction to those sensitive to plants from the Asteraceae family (rare). Consuming large amounts may cause stomach discomfort, gastrointestinal issues or heartburn for some people.
